How to Make an Egg and Honey Face Mask

Today I thought I might as well share a face mask recipe with you.
Whenever I have time on the weekend I use this mask over most other masks. Also before you apply the mask on your skin make sure your face is clean.

FYI: If you have normal skin use the entire egg, if you have dry skin use the yolk only, and if you have oily skin use the egg white only.

Steps:

1. Whisk the egg (or egg yolk / egg white) in a small bowl, until it's all mixed but not frothy. Hand beating is better than using a mixer or egg-beater.

2. Add 1/4 tsp. of vinegar (or 2 tsp of lemon juice), and 1 tsp. of honey of the mixture. Stir well to mix all of the ingredients.

3. If you have dry skin add one drop of lavender essential oil. If you have normal or oily skin add a drop of bergamot essential oil. (Note: It's not a must to add lavender or bergamot essential oil.) Stir well to mix all of the ingredients, also make sure the oil is mixed properly.

4. Apply the mask to your face using either your fingers or either a facial brush. Don't apply the mask on your eyes or eyebrows. Leave the mask on for 10 to 20 minutes or until it dries.

5. You can either peel of the mask or either rinse it off using warm water.

Little about the ingredients:

Egg yolk: Egg yolk contains vitamin A that has retinoids or Retin A which is used to help skin shedding, regulate the amount of skin produced, and stops pores from clogging. It contains 13 cis retinol which help reduce oil production and bacteria that can cause acne. Egg yolk reduces pimples, acne, and eliminates the oilyness from your skin.

Egg whites: Egg whites make an excellent mask base, because they are full of proteins (which nourish the skin), firming power (in other words they tighten the skin and reduce wrinkles), and reduce pores.

Vinegar or Lemon Juice: Both (vinegar and lemon juice) of these ingredients help lighten your skin, reduce discoloration, and brighten your skin.

Honey: Honey is a good natural anti aging skin care product. It contains enzyme called glucose oxidase, that when combined with water, it produced hydrogen peroxide (a mild antiseptic). It also contains antioxidants and flavonoids that may function as antibacterial agents. Honey is also a great natural moisturizer for dry and parched skin. It is able to attract and retain moisture, and rebuild the moisture level in the skin without making it oily. Honey provides a calming effect without irritating the skin, and helps replenish necessary skin moisture, especially during winter.
